Giveaway Excitement

Hi everyone:

It's been an exciting fall so far. First, the completion of the basement renodecoration and new studio space - finally! I'm really enjoying my new space and am feeling more inspired. I was in a summer slump, probably due to all the work going on in the house. Now I feel re-energized and have lots of new pattern ideas to work on.

Speaking of new patterns, have you seen the latest Quilter's Connection magazine? I hope you enjoyed the cover quilt, because it's mine! It's called "Fall" (so original, I know:) and is a combination of fusible web appliqué and hand embroidery: what I call HEAT (hand embroidery appliqué technique).

I will be publishing more patterns using HEAT as I enjoy the extra detail and texture that hand embroidery gives to my appliqué patterns.

You'll see two versions of the pattern in the magazine. While I don't usually do two samples of a quilt for magazine submission, I wasn't happy with the way the original quilt photographed, so I quickly whipped up another one and was pleased with how it looked - and it's the one they used for the front cover so I guess my decision was a good one.

First sample of Fall
Second Fall sample made with brighter fabrics
If you have a local Chapters store you should be able to find this issue there. I did when I visited my local store last week - and came away with several quilting magazines, of course. Let me know if you find it at your local store.

If you don't have a Chapters store near you, don't fret! I'm giving away a copy of the magazine to one of my readers.

To be entered in the giveaway, just leave a comment below telling me what you're currently working on - or would like to be working on :)

The draw is open from now until 7:00 pm MST on October 11, 2013. Sorry, this draw is only open to Canadian and U.S. residents.

Good luck to everyone!

I love your Fall quilt pattern! Currently, I am working through my stacks of crumb and string blocks putting together many lap-size quilts.

Lovely little wall quilt for fall! I'm using up stash and making up a number of different quilts, all at different stages - heading out today to get fabrics though for a couple of baby quilts.

I'm working on a quilt for a new granddaughter. I'll be visiting them in 3 weeks so really need to get cracking...I'm such a procrastinator and this puter takes up way too much of my time! I have another quilt to start on too. I have a new adopted grandson from Ethiopia as of last week! Haven't met him yet, but am looking forward to it!

Congratulation on having your project in Quilter's Connection and on the cover no less! I'm currently working on some travel accessories for a birthday gift.

I love to decorate and make things with fall colors. I would love to win and your wall quilt is so fun and beautiful. I don't do much hand stitching so would like to read what you have in the magazine about it. Thanks for the chance to win. OOPS, I had to delete my other statement I forgot the question. I'm working on a fun and bright lap quilt. I usually like civil war type fabrics but I'm stepping outside the box.

Love your wallhanging... I really should make one like it for the house... maybe one for each of the seasons!! Great idea!

Nice wallhanging. I am currently working on

Witches in Stitches Boo-tique - hand embroidery doing the embellishments then binding.

Forget Me Not by Esther Aliu BoM from last year. Only one more to go.

Several other projects in varying stages of completion.

Thank you for the chance to win.

Lovely wall hanging as I love fall colours. I am working with shot cottons using a square within a square pattern. I have many other UFOs waiting for my attention. :).

Right now I am working on a charity quilt with a friend. We decided it would not become a UFO. So we will be finishing it this week. I plan on starting some Christmas quilts very soon so they will be done for this Christmas!
I like the brighter colors for your fall too.

It's beautiful! I'm working on my UFO Collection but I am dreaming about sewing in fall colors...

I'm surprised you didn't buy all of the copies...or take them all and display them all side by side front and center of the magazine rack. :-) Congratulations on a beautiful cover! I'm working on a masculine quilt made of wool suitings...and longarm stuff in between.
